New-build apartment repaint in Pontoon Dock, E16
An empty new-build apartment in Pontoon Dock repainted throughout in four days: living room, hallway, bedroom and bathroom, plus doors, frames and skirting. Dulux Trade on walls and ceilings, Tikkurila Helmi on woodwork, Zinsser mould-resistant matt in the bathroom.

A new-build that needed a proper finish
This new-build in Pontoon Dock, in the Royal Docks part of Newham, was empty and had the usual end-of-build marks: filled and sanded patches on the walls that showed through the old coat, and ceilings that needed evening out around the downlights. The living room is bright — floor-to-ceiling glazing on two sides — so every patch was visible.
Protecting the floors and fittings first
Before any paint went on, the engineered oak floor was covered wall to wall in hard-floor protection film and the skirting edge taped. The bedroom carpet was covered, and sockets, switches and the glazing were masked. With the flat unfurnished, the whole job ran room by room without moving anything.
The right paint for each surface
Walls and ceilings in the living room, hallway and bedroom were finished in Dulux Trade Pure Brilliant White. The doors, frames and skirting were painted in Tikkurila Helmi 10, a hard-wearing water-based matt for woodwork that does not yellow. The bathroom walls and ceiling got Zinsser Perma-White Interior Matt, a mould-resistant paint made for steamy rooms, cut in cleanly around the downlights, extractor and loft hatch. Four days from start to finish.
